^^^ Things you need to know about us and FCC Licensing ^^^

Have you received a notice from the Federal Communications Commission that your two-way radio license will expire soon?

If you have internet access, have you visited the FCC website?

    PRETTY COOL, Huh!
 PRETTY CONFUSING, Too, HUH!!

You don't have to put forth much effort to get yourself totally lost in their site which consist of several hundred web-pages.
And that's only the beginning.....

Try filling out the FCC Form 601 and you're in for a real education. This is a multi-purpose form which the FCC uses for several different tasks related to licensing processes. And, as with most multipurpose instruments, now comes the challenge of determining which option you need, and of course, each options presents a multitude of choices  --  ALL DIFFERENT --  And the list of choices never seems to end!!

And, as with most government related documents, you'd better "Cross Your I's and Dot Your T's" just exactly right
OR ELSE*!

DEADLINE's?
--  BUT, OF COURSE!
And don't you dare miss them, OR ELSE*!

If you really need and use your radios and you let your current license expire, your life will likely CHANGE  ---  DRASTICALLY!!

WHY?
Well, to start with, circumstances are ALWAYS CHANGING. It's called PROGRESS! As technology moves forward, so must things change. Due to recent changes in FCC Ruling regarding Bandwidth for radio channels, the amount of the radio spectrum for radio channels has been decreased. This process, know as "re-farming", allows for more radio channels to be available within a given amount of the radio spectrum.

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU ---  ( The "OR ELSE*!" )

First off, if your license is permitted to expire, you can no longer operate your equipment LEGALLY!  The FCC does check on licensee's and imposes rather heavy penalties for violations of the law.

Secondly, the equipment you are presently using may not meet the new narrower bandwidth requirements, therefore, at minimum, requiring modification to your equipment. We emphasis "MINIMUM". Depending on the vintage of your equipment, it may not be technically possible to modify it to meet the new requirements.

Third, if your license expires, and you desire future operation of your radio system, an application must be filed for a new license. This means a "Frequency Coordination" must be performed by an FCC certified Frequency Coordination agency. Depending on the "Service" in which you intend to operate, the coordination will begin at $175.00, and upward from there! Additionally, you may not get the same frequency on which you've been operating, nor the same CALL SIGN.

WHY DO YOU NEED A LICENSE?  ---  ( Your Financial Resources vs. the LAW! )

If you choose to operate without a license, you'll really need "Deep Pockets!"  Take a look at the partial listing of penalties that could be imposed for such a choice!
